Venezia75: beyond the Film Festival

31 August 2018

In a few days the Lido di Venezia will once again be filled with Hollywood stars, famous and not-so-famous personalities, and show business fans, gathered together for one of the most important and famous competitions in the world: the 75th Venice Film Festival.

On this anniversary, increasingly closer to the century mark, the festival is preparing for an edition that promises to be very combative. Festival director, Alberto Barbera, will be able to count on the host of the event Michele Riondino, on the appeal of the two recipients of the Golden Lion lifetime achievement award, David Cronenberg and Vanessa Redgrave, and on the prizes awarded to Zhang Yimou and Bob Murawski.
The jury will be chaired by Guillermo Del Toro and will include Sylvia Chang, Trine Dyrholm, Nicole Garcia, Paolo Genovese, Malgorzata Szumowska, Taika Waititi, Christoph Waltz, and Naomi Watts.
However, the big names do not end there. There is keen anticipation for singer and actress Lady Gaga as well as movie stars such as Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Olivia Coleman and Rachel Weisz.

The Venice film festival is the oldest film festival in the world. In fact, the first festival (non-competitive) was held in August 1932 and was preceded by the Oscars by only a few years.

The Venice International Film Festival has a particular charm that not only comes from its coveted award, the Golden Lion (Leone d’Oro), but above all from its beautiful setting. It is held on the largest island in the Venetian archipelago, the Lido, which caps off its season with this event, consecrating it as both a prestigious destination for tourism and entertainment, and as a pearl of culture, a worthy offspring of Venice.

The fantastic looks worn by the stars on the red carpet are also a show-stopper and have been made even more important by the mass media. Beautiful clothes and jewellery worn specially for this occasion make them icons of style and a source of inspiration for all fashion artists.

Every year, Salvadori looks forward to this event to discover and rediscover the atmosphere of beauty, charm and eternity that this festival and the Hollywood stars elicit with their unique looks, elegant movements and sweet smiles.
