Salvadori’s social commitment: Covid project to support Italy

29 January 2021

For several years now, part of the proceeds from the sale of Salvadori jewellery has been used to support humanitarian projects in collaboration with Actionaid, an international non-governmental organisation that fights alongside the world’s poorest and most marginalised communities.

The current health emergency is exacerbating inequalities and exposing more vulnerable people to higher health, economic and social risks. The demand for basic necessities such as food, hygiene products, medicines and other sanitary items is increasing.

We have chosen to collaborate with ActionAid to strengthen the system for the protection and assistance of the most fragile families during and after the health emergency in Italy.

The response of institutions is not sufficient and local operators are unable to meet the increase and complexity of these needs. This programme aims at strengthening the system for the protection and assistance of the most fragile families, in particular those comprising women, children, elderly and disabled people, during and after the emergency. The selected areas of action are Corsico (Milan) and Naples.

Social distancing measures and the suspension of non-essential production activities in these two cities have led to many people losing their jobs who were already in precarious and casualised work. These people are foreigners and Italians belonging to families that are mostly single-income and often single-parent families, who were already in difficult situations. The socioeconomic consequences of the health crisis on these vulnerable population groups is giving rise to real emergencies.

By supporting Actionaid’s projects we are guaranteeing counselling, food and pharmaceutical supplies and basic necessities to families.

Buying a Salvadori jewellery piece is also a gift of love: part of the proceeds goes to supporting humanitarian projects in collaboration with Actionaid to give hope and a smile to those in need.
