Salvadori celebrates the 500th anniversary of the birth of Tintoretto

25 September 2018

Jacopo Robusti was born between 1518 and 1519 in Venice. He was the son of a cloth dyer, or tintore, hence the nickname Tintoretto, little dyer or dyer’s boy. Vasari described him as the “most extraordinary brain that painting has ever produced. He was loved and hated by his contemporaries for his painting ability.”

The 500th anniversary of the birth of Tintoretto, considered the most Venetian of all the Renaissance artists, is commemorated with a rich program of exhibitions and events.

In fact, from the beginning of September in the lagoon city visitors can see the works of the great artist in the magnificent Palazzo Ducale, in the prestigious setting of the Gallerie dell’Accademia and in the famous Santa Maria della Salute Church. His masterpieces will then cross the ocean to merge into a single large exhibition entitled “Tintoretto. Artist of Renaissance Venice” hosted at the National Gallery of Art di Washington DC.

However, the events don’t end here.

This cycle of celebrations includes the exhibition “Tintoretto alla Scuola della Trinità in Santa Maria della Salute at Punta della Dogana, where art lovers can admire the works of Tintoretto including an unpublished painting of Adam and Eve.

We are pleased to be the Main Sponsor of this exhibition which has allowed us to combine fine craftsmanship with painting. An opportunity to admire the timeless works of the artist together with our creations.

We look forward to seeing you from 28 September 2018 to 6 January 2019.
