The magic of the Venetian Gondola captured in the Dòlfin bracelet

Dòlfin is the name given to the Iron Prow-head of the Venetian gondola: the element which inspired the Dòlfin bracelet by Salvadori.

The Iron Prow-head is the most recognised and characteristic feature of the Venetian gondola. It protects the boat from collisions, and helps the gondolier to balance and navigate. However, the symbolic significance of the Dòlfin is much more important. The six teeth or prongs pointing forward represent the six districts of Venice, while the tooth jutting backwards symbolises the island of Giudecca and the Doge’s cap. The semi-circular break between the curved top and the six teeth is said to represent the Rialto Bridge.

Salvadori takes this important and significant symbol of Venetian tradition and interprets it artistically in the Dòlfin bracelet. All the magic and tradition comes alive again thanks to the bracelet’s two souls of white and yellow gold. The setting of each diamond is designed to evoke the shimmering waves of the lagoon.
